I was thinking of either a new hoover, an iron, a big pot or a couple of new tyres for the car. Would these be acceptable gifts ?

If my husband got me something like this for every day typical use of the house or car, I would be mad,
I like things personal, and I do the same, I smell cologne for days at the mall, till I get the right scent. Or shop till my feet are sore to pick the right sweater, thats not fair,
How about some perfume, Victoria secret has amazing afordable scents, get something she is into, like shoes, does she like shoes, go to a womans show department, and buy her a leather pair of boots, jewelery.

whats wrong with you, a vaccumm,? do you not want sex till 2008? a hoover would cause problems in my home.
or nice make up brushes, not a pack that xcost ten dollars but a few brushes that cost $100.
dont be so thrifty.

Well those gifts would be acceptable and wonderful if she asked for them. Otherwise you might want to get her something a little more personal.
Give her a gift that lets her know you do understand her and you have listened to her and know what she likes and dislikes.
Be a little sneaky and check out the closet and see what style and sizes she wears and get her a nice outfit.
If she likes jewelry then get that, if she likes to sew get her a gift certificate to the local fabric shop. If she likes to read get her a gift certicate to the book store. Gifts that make her feel pampered are the best!!!!
MOST IMPORTANT LET HER KNOW YOU THINK OF HER

whoa... buddy... Not a good idea. try this stuff...
give her a package deal: slippers, a warm and cozy night gown, candles, lotions, and a gift certificate for a full body massage. She will love it. Remember these 3 things when giving a gift to your other.

1. nothing that provides more work for her.
2. NO CLEANING SUPPLIES
3. try to say away from things that you also can wear or play with.. something just for her....

best of luck

I would think a new dish cloth or scrubbing brush would be on a par with what you have chosen. How about a nice watch or earrings. A selection of bath oils or nice soaps. Perfume Soft bed socks. Ear muffs or mittens cosy or kittens - these are a few of my favourite things etc.

How about a holiday somewhere nice where she can take a break from the vacuuming and ironing.Or a subscription to her favorite magazine or expensive perfume and jewellery. No woman really wants reminders of the household chores.

No, no, no....these are things that are needed to maintain the house. You don't buy them as gifts..

Pay attention when she reads through the catalogues. See what she likes. Buy her something that is only for HER, not for maintainence or caring for the rest of the family.

Don't get a woman a gift that makes her feel like a maid!! Tires are a no-no too--get her something special--like earrings and a necklace set. It makes her fell special a loved and she can keep them and cherish them forever.
