They have some courses here in animation. I'd love to do some amateur stuff and would love to have my nephews try

You can look for them online. But I can see you want opinions.
They have a cartoon museum with adult and kid classes in San Fransisco, but I'm guessing you don't live in the bay area. More info, more answers.
