In my own personal experience it's definitely possible to get sucked into depression and (as you say) "strive off it". Sometimes it's easier to feel sorry for yourself than to face up to what's causing you to be unhappy and overcome it. Taking personal responsibility for your own happiness is hard, and for some people, not possible at all no matter how much they try.

Also, it's sometimes nice to feel powerful emotions, even if they're negative, because they can make you feel "alive". It may sound odd, but it can almost be exhilarating to be depressed sometimes. I would suggest doing something creative to release your emotional negativity. Maybe write a poem or draw a picture. It doesn't matter whether it's any good or not. Just try and express that emotion instead of dwelling on it. Exercise can help too. Go for a long walk. Remember that by not eating properly you will only make yourself feel worse because your body will lose energy and make you even less motivated.

I hope things work out for you :)

I dont know if any one who is depressed gets sucked into and feels like they strive off of it. Most can't wait to pull out of it.
If I were you I would not waste so much time on this type of head trip.
You may really mess up and need some serious help.
You don't need an empty head. You need a useful brain

Pretty safe and secure in your little cocoon, isn't it? You are safe from facing possible rejection or failure......you are not "thriving", but rather "hiding out".

Your choice, but if would give you some strength of character, self-esteem, and wisdom, to quit being so self-absorbed and get off your butt and focus on other people for a while. Poor you, no one cares any more about your problems than you care about theirs.

Give others your time, attention, admiration, and appreciation, and they will feel good around you, and you will feel fulfilled inside.

Sounds like your coping mechanism is isolation and self pity. If your depression isn't chemical, use your thoughts to change your life. Read, "The Art of Happiness" by the Dalai Lama (you can get it at amazon.com). It's very enlightening. Like, have you ever even considered how many people and their work it takes to just make an article of clothing for you? Or, how much work it has taken just for a can of soup to get to you? Self absorption is not a good mental habit.

I think people dp get sucked into their own depression. Don't you feel like your just in your own little world? Like no one matters? I used to be depressed and I felt just like that. Im all better now though. I think that you're acting depressed because you feel safer.... Just a thought! Feel better, get back into real life before you miss all of it! Life is short. Enjoy it. <3

sometimes is good sitting being calm listening music and doing nothing. But not too long.
Just ask yourself, why do you feel this way? Who made you change the way you live? Is it worthed? Probably, not...

Go out girl and have fun...life is too short to stuck somwhere...you don't have a reason, don't ya :)

good luck...and feel the warmth of the sun.

Get out of your room and stop it! ("Thrive" or "strive"?)
