It depends how many marks you're talking about and whether you are close to a borderline. Unfortunately in any career sometimes you have to do something that is not as interesting as you'd like because that is the assignment, clients specification or whatever. Having said that if you are only talking about a small percentage and you are safely in the degree class you want then you can be more original and learn from the challenge. Besides you may be surprised a lot of people will give you credit for originality.
Good luck

I think it depends on how much time you have. If you feel that you have enough time to produce an original idea to the absolute best of your ability then why not go for it? If you don't have enough time it may be best to go for the maks....having said that if you are truly uncomfortable about being unoriginal, then take the challenge, think of an idea and work hard at it if this will make you more satisfied, and feel as though you have truly worked for your grades.

Be original. You can still be original and go for the marks at the same time. At least this way you may have the best of both world and the enjoyment of being original and being yourself.

if there is a way to go for both do it. getting the marks will help your grades but being original helps you in the long run because if you can be orginal then that means you have an imagination which is useful for getting a job.
Don't know if that makes sense to you but either way you choose good luck!
Hope this helps.

You don't say what you're studying nor whether your original thought is genuinely saying something important or is just trying to be different.
If you are a science or engineering student, you really need to be sure of your facts.
Other subjects have perhaps more freedom to be original.
You do need to be sure of what you're saying.
Good luck.

If your tutors are worth their salt then they'll rate originality. Or, remember the old adage, originality is the art of hiding your sources!
