Well you can use a permanent marker and then cover your ipod with a clear transparent skin that you can search for online! Example: http://www.smart-ipod-ideas.com/html/scratchguard.html.

Depending on how special the autograph will be ask for 2 get the 1 on the ipod then get another somewhere that you know will stick like a notebook, backpack, even a picture.
just in case the one on the ipod wears off you have your backup one.
just a thought.

Use a permanent sharpie, and then you might have to cover it with tape to protect it. The metalic surface of an iPod doesn't hold ink well.
