I just had this done to for the same reason. But if you are 28 days and no period, then go to americanpregnancy.org and check out the signs of pregnancy

You could be pregnant and you're just not that far along. When was your last menstrual period? Usually by 5 or 6 weeks since your last menstrual period you should be able to at least see a gestational sac on an ultrasound. Before then you might not be able to see anything regardless of whether it is transvaginal or not.

The pregnancy hormone HCG has to be at a level of at least 2000 to see a gestational sac and in normal pregnancies the HCG level will be that high around 5 or 6 weeks after your last menstrual period. Hope this helps.

Your doctor ordered a sonogram for a single missed period? Thats a little jumpy dont you think?

Did you try tests? Blood work? Generally they'd be able to find something if it were there after 4 weeks or so. It might be a touch too early... which is generally why doctors dont bother to waste time and insurance money with sonograms until you're a couple months late....

The routine usually goes, late period, skipped period, urine test, blood test, second skipped period, sonogram.

I think your doctor is screwy. You can skip for any reason, and it doesnt make it a medical condition.

Go back in a week or so and request blood work.

They didnt give you a pregnancy test first? That seems weird to me. I would think because those are the most accuate in spotting pregnancy that you may not be, but you can always get a test and find out. Also you may need to be concerns that it could be a ectopic pregnancy where the fertilized egg may be stuck in the falopian tube and grows there. This is very dangerous. You should get examined.
