Say you go into a store and see items on sale for buy 1 get 1 free. After you purchase them you only like one of them and want to take the one you did not like back to the store. How much would they give you back if one of them items were actuall free?

You could probably do an exchange or get half back.

They would never give you a full refund and so you could just keep an item for free.

Its a good theory but they aren't silly.

On the receipt it will say the cost for both and then it will subtract one. Therefore they will know you got it for free and will not let you return it, unless you are returning BOTH items.

You MAY be able to pull this off for an exchange. The only really way to find out is to try. All stores have different return policies and I'm sure you could find a store where you could pull this off, especially if the cashier is an idiot/ new.

Most stores don't accept returns on sale items for this reason...but technically they should refund you the entire amount but most stores will do like half of what the item cost....

I agree with the first answer, exactly nothing. Why? Because people run scams like this all the time in hopes of getting away with it. But, as a store person, I find our staff to be very familiar with all such attempted scams and usually see the person out the door.

Refund would require that you return both with sales receipt.
