at some time in the future I want to have a couple of horses.I have narrowed my search to these breeds now I am seeking information on their personalities. If some one can explain some o the differences between the breed.I'd much appreciate it.From what I have read so far,The Akhal Teke has the most appeal because of their devotion, I like the fact that the Lusitano is always descrbied as noble , calm and kind, and Andulsians are described as again very kind and sensitive, which I like. I should stress loyalty, sensitivity and calm natures would be critical in my determining which breed to ultimately go with. Thank you all ever so much.

I have an Andalusian, and she is a very brave, intelligent horse. The Lusitano is very similar in personality to the Andalusian. The Akhal Tekes that I've been around, while being very loyal and kind, are also rather flighty, and are hard keepers during the winter. I am in Michigan, so our winters can be worse than some, and I would never consider owning one just for that fact.

You didn't mention what you will be doing with this horse. Depending on what you're going to do, one or the other may be more suited to your discipline. I've heard Akhal Tekes are good jumpers and eventers, while Andalusians and Lusitanos are better suited towards dressage. Not that there aren't examples in either breed that would excel at anything, it just may be harder to track down, especially in breeds that aren't overly common in the first place. Best of luck, I do love my Andalusian and wouldn't trade her for the world.

unfortunately you have it narrowed down to some of the most expensive breeds of horses! If you want a horse to fit the qualitites that you are looking for, an Arabian is one of the best choices to fit these specific qualitiies. And they are common enough that they arent as expensive as the three you really want. And as far as being hyper- there are hyper, uncontrollable horses in every breed as well as dead broke calm ones too. Arabians just have a lot of spirit and energy. If you are hell bent on these three breeds, then what I suggest you do is to ride horses of all three breeds and see what individual horse you fall in love with.

Sounds like you have done some great research, well done. I would love an Andulsian, but that's just me. It's all up to you. Now that you know about the different breeds just take a look at each and try to picture them in your life, your training program, etc. They are all great!

Personalities vary at random even more than by breed. If I were you, just shop around the quarter horses and mutts you can find locally and don't worry about procuring such exotic breeds.
