I am not being a racist, could you help me understand?

This is not meant to be racist at all so don't even bother saying that, I'll just ignore you. My question is why do most blacks act the same? I would say at least 95 percent of black females are all loud and have that same atttitude (you know what I'm talking about, but I don't really know how to explain it). And the same goes for males, I can't really explain the attitude but I'm sure you all know what I mean.

It seems that at least 95 percent are like that. I was wondering why this is? I mean just because they are the same race, why would most of them have the same personalities? Obviously I understand physical traits but not personality traits like this. Don't get me wrong, I love black people because I actually find it hilarious how they act! Thank you.

Wow like I said don't bother if you think I'm being racist. I'm really not. I have absolutley nothing against blacks.

And stop nitpicking about the "statics" (statistics, hun) Obviously I know they aren't accurate. But that would be a good guess from what I have encountered. Please don't answer unless you have something worthwhile to say.

Yes I know not ALL of them act like this, that's why I didn't say ALL of them did. I'm saying it seems most do, and I don't think anyone could deny that.

Sorry but that has to be the most hypocritical thing I've ever heard. First off, FOR THE LAST TIME I DIDN'T SAY ALL! I realize not all do. Secondly, stop picking about the 95 percent. It was just a guess from what I have encountered.

Thanks to SOME of you that actually answered respectfully. Down your answer made a lot of sense. I guess it's just the area I'm in. And the white cowboy thing makes sense too, I guess it's just a regional thing. The only reason I thought it wasn't just where I live is because, like someone else said, most on TV are portrayed that way as well.

These are cultural traits, not personality traits. Many people would use the descriptions you offer to describe stereotypical Italian cultural behavior too (or New York, for that matter). There is a huge difference between race and culture.

I am going to step in and try to help this person.

First...I agree, you aren't being racist; which, as you have stated, would mean you have feelings of animosity.

The word people are looking for is "stereotyping".
Stereotyping exists because the referenced behavior is commonly seen amongst a specific population. 95% or whatever...usually greater than half the visual element of that population. The media also greatly enhances these images.

If this person has only met 20 black people and 19 of them acted that way...then 95% is in the ballpark...

I would venture to say that most the black people you've met act that way because that is the culture they were raised in. People living in a large city have quirks that distinguish them from people from small towns. If you get to know more black people on a one-on-one level, the more their individual personalities will distinguish the from the culture they share with other black people.

you knew you would offend many, but you have no proof to your made-up statistics. I am a very intelligent black female, who grew up in an all white neihgborhood and now i get criticized for "acting white". i speak well and dress as the world would have you dress, i am not loud unless i feel like screaming at someone, i do not have an attitude for no reason and usually can't be stereotyped as your typical n word. i speak the words i heard spoken when growing up. i act in a manner that i saw while growing up. i am who i am because of where i lived. other blacks are who they are because of what they too see and remember most people learn by what they see. if your parents are ghetto then you most likely will be that way too. if your parents speak well, then you most likely will speak well too..
if you grew up in a the inner city with mostly black people, you would do what they do because that is what you would know. since you probably did not grow up around any black people. you don't know a thing about us. so please stop stereotyping us. and if you knew 95% of us, you would know the real us.

I'm not offended if anything I'm amazed that people still have those types of thoughts in the 21 century. Questions for you to peruse, Why is it only white people that get attacked by wild animals? Why is it only whites who die doing extremely dangerous activities? I'll answer for you, because its tough enough being black. Why are the majority of serial killers white? Why are the majority of pedophiles white? And I'm glad you find us so amusing, when you see a group of brothers in a mixed club they aren't there just for the white girls, they are having a belly laugh at the dance floor. almost the whole population, so don't say that i don't mean all because when you use a percentage like that then people'll asume you mean aleast the whole pop. so don't say 95% just say you noticed a good 10% acts that way, i my self aren't loud, but when i'm mad and need to get a point across and is not talking softly i will get loud
so don't say that because then you'll be called ignorant

No matter what you say, you will be called a racist. I agree with you based on my experience dealing with blacks. Although not all are like you describe, a majority are. No body likes a braggert or a jerk no matter what race. However, when you call a black person out on their behavior, they scream racism and act all ignorant. It's the way they are raised. They are raised that all whites are racists and everybody owes them and everybody is jealous of them. It's a no win situation. Ya just gotta do the right thing, treat all people nice and try to distance yourself from all the bs. It's amazing that many blacks think it is ok to call each other the N word but only they can cause it does not mean anything if they call each other that. Of course they can call whites, asians, and hispanics anything and thats fair game because of bad things that happened in the past blah blah blah. Whay a waste of time. Move on!

It depends on what neighborhood you poll - I would say many black people act one way or the other based on where they grow up. Just like other races act a certain way, based on where/how they are raised. So, it seems like where you are from, many of the black females act that way. No problem, I know what you mean. However, I wouldn't categorize and say 95% of blacks (or any race for the matter) act a certain way. That is such a high percentage to categorize any thing.

Of course it probably is no where near what you are stating it is but I think I understand what you are saying. I am black and was thinking about similar things earlier, if you are black you pretty much get chastised by lots of other blacks for being different . I think alot of black people are too worried about being labled as sell outs instead of being their own person,. I think that most of the people who act that way are putting on a front because they don't want to be singled out as different... jmo

people that are black, have to speak loud to be heard, Black people comes from roots. and where slaves. There was told what to do and made to do things .There had to fight to get things.there high crime rate. and if you look at the black history. There had to fight to what they wanting.Martin King,and other screem out to be free. all black people still believe that speaking loud will get them what they want. Black people need to change there history and stop complaining that they don't have anything. There have the same rights as we do. There past is long gone. Education is also a great deal on how people act. Black people drop out of school and using more drugs.Just think about it.

I do have to disagree with you about most of us having the same personalities. The blk race comes in all differ shapes, color, size, and differ personalities; that's like me saying that well 95% of white men like to do stupid things such as jump off a mountain with no protective gear or harass dangerous animals just for fun, which is not true.

When the media portrays a certain race on t.v., most of us tend to categorize the whole race as being like that. For example, Wildboyz. Wildboyz is a cool show,and they do a lot of stupid stuff on there, especially Steve-O. Steve-O does a lot of bizarre stunts, and i've heard comments stating "white people do anything to be on t.v., or white people like to put themselves in danger like Steve-O is doing," and that's what most of us do; some of us tend categorize a race over someone's actions.

As for most black women being loud, i can't really give you a specific answer on that because everybody has their own way of expressing themselves, it's just some blk women like to express themselves more. I've seen some that would get loud for nothing, and it's like what's the point? What really ticks me off is that when i watch the Maury show, some blk women come on there and are so loud, that even Maury can't even stand them. I hate when i see that because it gives us a bad reputation. I can understand that person is extremely mad towards that person, but that person should know that he or she is on national t.v. and should act civil; not jump on chairs, people, or rant and rave at the audience and Maury lol it gets tiring sometimes to see that.
