Sorry to hear about your hamster. Unfortunately they don't live for very long - up to 3 years - so he may have been old and it was time for him to depart. There could have been an illness that was difficult to detect, but could have proved fatal. The best way to think about him is that you gave him a good life and the time was right for him to depart from this life, through reasons we can't always see.

You sound like a very caring person, and you will feel sad but you can feel happier knowing you did everything for him to give him a happy life. This is something many animals never have.

I had something similar happen to my hamster, although I didn't have a chance to say goodbye while he was alive. After we had buried him we were cleaning out the cage and found a lot of black plastic chunks. He had been climbing up to the top of his house and eating the plastic cover. As you can imagine this was none too good for him. Try checking the cage to be sure that he wasn't chewing something he shouldn't have been (maybe the water bottle since it was leaking). It sadly won't bring him back but it will help you make a safer home for your next fuzzy friend.

I'm sorry to hear this love, animals give us so much love and fun so it's sad when they go Hamsters only live up to 3 years, and with them being so small and delicate sometimes things just go wrong. I don't think you will ever 100% know unless you saw something actually happen to her, you obliviously loved her and are a caring person, so may be in a little while you will feel up to it you can rescue another one from a pet store and giving them a fantastic life too. In the mean time dont blame yourself or think there was more you could have done-that isnt the case, plant a little colourful plant in the garden to remember her by, and know you done your best.

You say there was a little blood coming from the hamster's back end?
This sounds like the water had nothing to do with it. The blood could have come from an obstruction that tore his intestines, severe intestinal infection, severe urinary or kidney infection, or if it was actually a female, a hemorrhage from the uterus. Pain or blood loss, probably both, would have put her into shock, the reason she was limp when you found her.

Im useful your no longer doing something incorrect, puppy shops could be packed with an infection and f the shops dont sparkling the cages thoroughly. The cages that are enclosed and characteristic tubes are no longer the terrific as they carry in micro organism as they do no longer seem to be easily wiped sparkling,i might save on with a normal cage that is washed easily. replace the bedding and sparkling down the kit a minimum of another day wash out the nutrition bowl every day and alter the water, attempt organic yogurt as a handle for little hammy as this assists in keeping sturdy bacterial in its tummy and that i've got discovered it to assist restoration after moist tail symptomsthat have been dealt with by a vet with antibiotics.. terrific of success

Just move on; I lost my hamster last summer...so sad! Your hamster is in a better place (with tons of lady hamsters!). Hamsters die REALLY easily. My mom has a friend who had a hamster as a kid, and it died when a cat was looking at it.

Listen, hamsters are fragile animals. They die easily. That's part of being a hamster. You gave your hamster a good life; that's what matters. Head high and keep the good memory.

Hamsters like every other living thing have a lifespan. From what you described, my guess is that he had a massive stroke. There is nothing that could have prevented that or explain why. I am sorry for your loss.

You don't say how old he/she was, but it could of been its time to go, maybe when playing it may have fallen and hurt itself without you realising? sounds like some kind of internal injury or a stroke but you will never know, at least you were there at the end and was able to say goodbye, please don't blame yourself it sounds like you were a very caring owner.
