it depends on what that person likes...i've enjoyed reading the 'get them nothing' replies you've gotten...lot of really 'Christ-like' folks out there, huh? i don't see what the big deal is...there are a lot of people out there who are celebrating Christmas, who are no more Christians than i am an albanian disc jockey...never have the first thought about God, Christ, or the Bible...they say they 'believe in God', but that is about as far as it goes...but if you were to ask them, they would describe themselves as 'Christians'...i don't see any of them being told that they shouldn't have any part of Christmas...if this is a person you care about, then get them something or do something for them that shows you care...if there WAS a 'religious test', then it should be the religion of the GIVER, not the recipient...like your question asked, it's about what you GIVE, not what you GET...

You should have some idea about this person's likes and dislikes so find something they really enjoy and go from there. Maybe they collect something and you could add to their collection with a piece they have been wanting. Gift certificates are always welcomed. Fast food, music, DVDs, and many other possibilities. Low on cash, make a coupon book for exchanging for favors. Like lunch together at their favorite place or better yet cook their favorite dish and have them over for dinner. Coupons for a free ride to the shopping mall. A walk in the park on a sunny afternoon. Coupon for help to shovel snow after a storm. Provide the hot Chocolate!!! A game of chess on a rainy day. Possibilities are endless..

A good Christmas Gift is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and tell them that Jesus Loves them and cares for them. Give them things that will win thier soul to come to Christ for Christmas. I was an athiest 7 years ago and I didn't like how my life was about. So a few years after that I decided to go back to church and get myself Saved and when I got saved I got married to my Godly Husband and we attend Church.
However, Many people thinks Christmas only gets celebrated by Christians and Catholics and alike people. However, they have Santa Claus, Gifts, Christmas songs, Christmas cookies and all sorts of stuff and Christmas tree's. It's not just for Christians to celebrate.

I don't seen what being atheist has anything to do with what kind of gift to get them. My husband is an atheist and he enjoys Christmas just as much as the next person. Yes, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ, but that doesn't mean you can't just celebrate it because you don't believe. Sometimes its just a tradition. but i would think what that person enjoys doing, what they like, what makes them happy, that's what I would base what I would get them on. It has nothing to do with their religious preference.

How about a Pagan book of Days? It has a spiritual bent to it, honors the seasonal aspect of Christmas, and reminds the athiest that the celebrations surrounding Christmas have their basis in much older rituals.

Since they don't believe in God or Jesus - what would be the point of celebrating a holiday dedicated to the joyous birth of Jesus?
I'm not very religious but even I think atheist's celebrating Christmas is a HUGE hypocrisy.
I would get them nothing!
What would you get a Scientologist? Some "moon boots"? Or would you get them the same thing? Nothing.

Are you sure that they would want a Christmas gift?
If you're sure, don't get anything that is specifically Christmas-y but you can pretty much get anything other than that.

Well , what about a gift basket full of their favorite things. they are people too. I bought my atheist buddy a sweater , that he had wanted. if you give them a bible , they feel like your shoving religion down their throat. Just live the Godly example in front of them.

Yeah I would not bother getting them anything. If you do give them something it is in observance of Christmas right?? Well they are athiest, so the point is lost and you might risk offending them. Instead, if you are dead set on getting them something I would do it as a New Years gift.
