I know my wife has had troubles with this type of thing with one of her friends because of the way her friend presents it - kind of "in your face" and "look at me" - and because her friend is always jealous when something good happens to my wife (like getting engaged before her, having a baby before her, etc.). My point to my wife all along has been that if you were truly close friends, she wouldn't treat you that way and you wouldn't feel that way toward her.

So, long story short, if you're truly friends, you absolutely feel excited for them.
