I AM AN EMO AND IF ANYONE ON HERE SAYS THAT ALL EMOS ARE ALWAYS DEPRESSED AND THAT THEY CUT THEMSELVES THEN YOU ARE RETARDED AND YOU SPEND TOO MUCH TIME LISTENING TO STEREOTYPES!!

its newspapers like the daily mail that encourage this type of behaviour

Back to the original point

Emos, we are just like normal people
We like to listen to music, have a good time but the only difference is...we like rock music, we like to dress differently

THE REASON?
we dont want to be rib skinny bimbos who have sex with everything that moves
we dont want to lose our virginity to a freakin chav
we want to be different and respected instead of ridiculed
so we dress differently to be noticed and respected, but the more we dress differently, the less we are respected and the more we are ridiculed
so its a chain
WHEN PEOPLE REALISE THAT WE MEAN NO HARM TO OURSELVES OR OTHERS, AND THAT WE ARE JUST NORMAL PEOPLE
THEN THAT IS WHEN PEOPLE WILL BE A LOT HAPPIER!!!!

ive decided im no longer an emo but a chav.
i now walk with some kind of spasticall limp.
but if i was to be me then i suppose im an emo.
i wear black and pink.
and stripes
and i dont like chavs.
but some of my friends who are 'emos' are pagen
some christian
some bi, some gay some straight.
i suppose we are all the kids that arent popular and ended up being pushed together into one big group.
we are like a massive community, i never talk to chavs if i walk past them.
but i stop and will hold conversations with 'emos'
its great!

you chavs out there, should try being nice for a while!
ans self harm isnt related to emos, though attention cutting i suppose is because a lot of people that cut themselfs for attention are emos.
maybe because the other people dont want to be called emo, they dont use that as a method of attention seeking.

ok, enough rambling

goodbye

"Emo" kids are always Scene.
If "emo" kids tell you they aren't scene, then they're stupid and obviously following trends thus making them SCENE.

As I have encountered many, these types of scenesters claim to be bisexual, homosexual, or just have "tendencies" of both. Some cut themselves, some cut people's hair, and some just don't cut. A lot of these kids claim to be "Anarchist", which isn't that surprising. And very few even listening to real "emo" (genre based emotive hardcore) music.

That's great, Rachel! Love your answer, sweetie!

My 17-year-old daughter says, "Yes, it is just a stereotype, but people who dub themselves to be 'emo' listen to very sad music that talks about dying. They sit and mope around a lot. They are generally wet blankets or really irritable and not nice people. They are usually atheists and don't have any hope in their lives. They see their lives as hopeless, and they think there's no reason to continue because it's only going to get worse."

Very sad . . .
