when I was 12 years old I was babysitting 2 children. an infant and a todler I'd laid the baby down for a nap with a raidio on softly to lul it to sleep, and took the totler out to the front yard to play a flip her in the air with my legs game. Note: don't hire children to watch children. As I played the game with the todler she looked in the air over our appartment and said "moke." I looked and saw smoke billowing out of the appartment below mine I handed the todler off to my sister and before I got to the stairs I could see fire leaving the downstairs window and entering my apartment's window above it. The fire was all spread out on the cieling as I crossed the livingroom into the bedroom. When I opened the door of the bedroom I heard the radio playing "live and let die" and it was eight at the part where the words were "and then this ever changing world in which we live in makes you give it a try.... say live and let die....." The irony made me pause but only for a second. I snatched the baby off the bed and headed back to the front of the appartment but the cieling fan came down and splashed fire accoss my path. I shut the door to the room and headed for the bathroom with the baby I took a bathtowel and soaked it and wraped it around the baby I was prepairing to climb out the window to the drain pipe that had been a regular secret escape route of mine with the baby when I saw a neighbor and called to him. I leaned way out and dropped the baby to him and shimmied down by myself. That's still a point in my life that brings both pride and terror even some 30+ years later
