Soak it in warm salt water 20 minutes a day and use Neosporin. Make sure you have a stainless steel or titanium ring or stud in it. Cartilage piercings take a long time to heal. Try not to mess with it except to clean it so it can heal up.

If you're using alcohol that might be making it worse.
Change it one more time, to something hypo-allergenic. Clean it with just water and maybe a little bit of very gentle soap. Or maybe a salt water rinse ... not trying to get inside the wound but that would clean the outside and keep the infection from getting inside your ear canal at least.
If it doesn't clear up in a week, see a doctor for some antibiotics. The doctor might want you to take it out, though, to get rid of the infection easier. You'd be able to redo it in a few weeks, though.

Go to the hospital immediately! Infected cartilage if left too long may have to be surgically removed. I had a friend in middle school that got hers pierced. The very first day she had an infection, her mom took her into the hospital and she had to stay overnight because the drs were so worried about an infection in the cartilage area.

You can clean and it and stuff but if the infection has been there for more than 10 days, you need to take it out. You can get this thing called cauliflower ear and you will likehave to get your ear cut off. I know it sounds like extreme but it could happen!

You might be allergic to the metal altogether. If it continues to get infected after cleaning it, then you should take it out and go to a professional. Last thing you want is to have your ear cut off if it gets gangrene. No earring, no ear!

Try not to use acohol to clean the piercing and put in a stud in your ear till the infection clears. If you want you can try going to a jewlery store and getting their ear cleaning solution. That may help clear the infection and keep it clean.

Same thing happened to me several years ago.My daughters healed perfectly with minimal pain, but mine was red and hurt whenever anything touched it! I went to the doctors and discovered that the cartilage didn't "pop" through the skin and had gotten infected. Feel the back of your ear with your finger . Do you feel a small bump? If so,scrape it gently until you release the cartilage. It will hurt but it won't heal otherwise.

if gold and silver are irriating your skin try titanium. Dont keep meddling with it always wash your hands before you touch it and clean it with either a special peircing care lotion (available from most shope that do peircings) or salt water or a few drops of tea tree oil in cool boiled water.
