It depends on which Country you live, how you did it, and was the Company at fault by not having the proper finger guards in place?./

Depends upon which fingers and how much was lost. Lost fingers doesn't pay well, especially just the tips. And loss of the tip of the pinkie or ring finger doesn't pay nearly as much as loss of the index finger below the 2nd knuckle.

It also depends upon the type of work you do and the impact of the loss on your normal work. Any loss to a concert pianist or a surgeon is going to be worth much more than to say a factory worker. That's just a fact of life.

Now, loss of a complete thumb is an entirely different matter since it affects the basic ability to grip things and pick things up.

Another factor is if it's your favored hand. A loss on the left hand of a right-handed person is of less impact than it would be on their right hand.

Your best bet is to work this out with your doctor and attorney. You're entitled to something, but it's just not likely to be like a lottery win and allow you to retire in Palm Springs.

It depends if you work in a Factory ...... Did the machine have a guard..? .... Was you trained to operate the thing that took your fingers off..?? ...Was you doing YOUR job at the time or helping a friend at work..??....was you under the influence of alcohol / drugs..??....
These are just a few questions that will be asked at any Solicitors you go to..!!!

If all is in your favour and your company admit its there fault you could get over £10,000 as this will impair your ability to work.
(Get a Good Solicitor a "No win no fee type " )

Good luck.

I broke the tip of my little finger 8 weeks ago. It wont heal and I'm in as much pain as when I did it. The specialist has said I may have to have an operation on it but I could get an infection in hospital. His words. Or, they could fuse the joint together.
It wasn't my fault.
I have spoken to a lawyer about it and he reckons I will get around £2,000.
Id prefer a normal finger but that is not a choice.

Presuming you already in contact with WC Attorney, your claim has been filed, and you are in the treatment period, the FACTOR will come down to your age, your occupation, and how your injury will affect your current job description. From there you will get what is called a STANDARD DISABILITY RATING from your own doctor, the insurance company's doctor, and a WC appointed doctor. Both sides(your Att. & Ins) will come to a settlement (most likely), unless there's a dispute then it goes to the judge who may make a final determination. Now I am sure you are just itching to know, to get an idea, I feel you for I too went through the gauntlet of WC. Because I was clueless and I was extremely curious myself, I will atleast attempt to give you a standard rating. I presume that you use your hands on your job, for your injury speaks for itself. In your case their maybe a permanent disability award, life pension(you lost two tips permanently), milage reimbursment(MD visits), future MEDICAL EXPENSE, as well as closing out your case(which I did, but happens much later)called C&R(compromise &release), and you may even (most likely) be entitled to vocational rehab. Depending on your earnings and occupation, and giving you the age of 25-30, I feel your permenent disability rating to be about close to 20 percentile. Comparing to what my injury was and the amount I was awarded, your initial cash after treatment will be in the $15,000 at the least, now this does not include C&R which actually may be just as high. Therefore, we can say another lump sum of $15,000 plus. I HAVE NO DOUBT YOU WILL RECIEVE at least $50,000 cash payment overall,. Your rehab and other MD service will easily be in the 100,000 of dollars.

So NO LESS than $50,000. I hope you recover quickly and able to do things you want to do.

PS(VERY IMPORTANT!!!!) YOU MUST EXAGERATE YOUR PAIN AND SUFFERING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN BECAUSE THE INS CO> WILL TRY AND GIVE YOU AS LESS AS THEY CAN!!!

It entirely depends on how you did it, was the machine at fault, were there safety cages in place or was it neglect on your part? The best thing you could do is go and see your solicitor and take it up with him. Don't go to one of these that advertise on tv as "no win, no fee" you will only get around half the money you are entitiled to, but if you go and see your own solicitor, then you will get every penny, provided you get legal aid and win the case that is. Good Luck.

go to a compensation specialist, they are usually no win no fee. a mate of mine got two grand for each finger, which isn't much really, but the company wasn't solely at fault

It depends on if it was your fault and was it because you were frivolous and weren't safely doing your job? If so your chances of getting anything are slim. If you can prove that you were doing everything up to snuff and it was the machines fault consult and attorney you may be able to go after the machine's maker and your employer.
