By today's standards it's not wierd. Because we live in a culture today that preaches selfishness. That it's all about me, me, me. That we have to look out for #1. Well that's no way to make a marriage work if your only thinking about yourself and what you want. To make a marriage work, you have to put your spouse and their feelings and needs before your own. I find it really sad that people when they are married see the first sign of trouble, and they run from them by getting divorced instead of facing those problems and trying to work them out. People want the easy way out of anything, including marriage. They don't want to work at things. Making a marriage work is HARD WORK! There is no easy button when it comes to marriage.
My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary back in Aug. I can tell you it's not been easy. My parents celebrated 36 years in Oct. But if a couple treats each other with respect and love, and works at problems instead of running, I believe that a marriage can last a long time.

the average marriage today last somewhere around 1 1/2 - 2 years, only because there is an alternative. If there was no alternative to marriage people would take their time in making the decision. People get married and expect to live like they were when they were single..........it doesn't work like that. Your supposed to be partners, through thick and thin, for better or for worse. As soon as there is a bump in the road of life, they're just so quick to jump ship. It used to be that people were humiliated to get divorced, now people wear divorce like it's a medal, notches on their bed post.......it's sickening really.

NO! You are not weird at all. It shows you hold true to the commitment you made. It shows integrity. If you and your husband are able to work through your indifferences together, its sounds like you have alot going for both of you. You're not always going to agree on everything but, its how you work it out that makes a difference. Don't fold to trends, that's all they are are trends. Stay off the bandwagon and continue with what marriage is about, working through life together.

It is a marriage, a vow was made before God. Of course you should try to work it out and hang in there. BUT, having said that it takes two. If you think you can get him to come around or work on it, keep at it, it's worth it. If you KNOW that he never will, then that changes things a bit. I think people DO give up too easily on marriages, but it often makes me wonder if they loved, or love the person in the first place.

No, you aren't. Too many people treat marriage like it's nothing special. It's today's throw away mentality. EVERY marriage has ups and downs. But, giving up rather than working at your marriage is wrong. You are behaving honorably, and in an adult fashion. Good for you. You have a very luck husband.

Not weird, been married 6 years and have never thought about not working out a problem. I think it also helps that both of our parents have been married 35+ years.
