He just wants from free publicity. You are absolutely right...folks need to leave Oprah alone. Although idon't totally agree with her stance on rap music or rappers....she has the right to like what she wants. The real sellouts are folks like 50 who put out garabage just to make a quick buck. Rappers need to EVOLVE and find something else to rap about (especially since they are rich and dont' live in the hood anymore).

Just for the record, I would like to correct you on something. Not all African Americans criticize each other, just the ones "you" are talking about, you should really watch how you word, what you're trying to say. I felt that you should have said "some" African Americans criticize each other, but you didn't and when you do that, you're stereo-typing all of us. I'm happy for anybody, that has done well for themselves.

U won't be able to even purchase a short foodstuff blend for lunch after operating all day. U are literally not the brightest bulb are u? i'm quite sensible all those " unskilled " workers u are taking about are smarter than u and would by no ability placed a question like united stateson the internet. In ur common sense i wager that's extra useful for the monetary gadget and our GDP if we decrease it to $0.50/hr so as that each and every one those human beings should be sponsored by less costly housing initiatives & many extra social amenities that they might pick. and perchance they may be extra smart than u and make sure out they're going to get extra money, stay extra useful & get extra authorities assistance amenities in the adventure that they fairly their $0.50/hr interest and bypass on welfare & do no longer something in any respect. Then we does no longer have each person filling those jobs & u can make ur personal hamburgers & fries. U might want to save on with for a job at Yale or yet another prestigious college or college as head professor of Economics and political technology.

You sound lot a spoiled American. Oprah goes to African to build schools etc. because in African, there are NO social service agencies to assist people. In America, there is a GOVERNMENT that overseas schools and gives funding, etc. to them. In Africa, proverty is completely different. They don't have clean running water. Atleast in the projects, the water is somewhat sanitary. In America, there's soup kitchens and social service agencies to assist with health care and our basic needs. In African, there's NOTHING to assist with their basic needs. Oprah spends her money in African because there's NO other forms of government over there that will assist poor people. She does give ALOT to charities in America as well. But people don't critize her for assisting and supporting people in Africa. I think when you've been in America all your life, there's this sick sense of entitlement. There is NO governmental support in African. I applaud Oprah for her work there.

The only reason 50 cent is criticizing Oprah is because she would not allow him on the show. He's probably just saying that because he's mad.She allows rapist and murderers on her show but she would not have him on there.I think that was the point he was trying to make.

Well, Oprah does tend be a bit selfrighteous in her own "disapproval" of 50cent and other people who, in her views, cast a bad light on the race.

I think the issue is that Oprah criticizes the rap community for lyrics they put in there songs. But is no different in up lifting the lower bracket of the black community. 50 cent isn't a gangster, to market his image they had to give him that title. I know this b/c my husband is a personal friend to some of these music celebs. 50’s just trying to get paid. See if a rapper comes out being positive your right the mainstream won't embrace there music. The truth is there are to many white people in charge of these industries (music) that encourage the black community (rappers) to portray an image that’s gangster or aggressive, violent, so on. If rap music was positive then, the image of blacks in our society would be one to look up to. White people don't want to see this happen. So they create rappers like 50 cent who aren't real gangsters but imitate them for record sells. And the mainstream soaks this up. (There’s another uneducated low life black person, you all say to yourself.) See outside of the music, these rappers are putting money back into there communities. Ludacris, whom Oprah has a problem with has helped many minorities economically and emotionally. He doesn't just add money in to a big pot for some charity, he's out there changing communities. 50 cent is another you don't hear about. See I like Oprah, but the truth is she'd rather go to Africa and help African kids then go right into the projects of Chicago, Detroit, Compton, Richmond VA, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the list goes on, then to help fix up the schools, donate school supplies rebuild the housing communities and again the list goes on. It's easier not to deal or help blacks in America. The mainstream doesn't except this. But communities right here in our own back yard are suffering, there without water without food without homes and it's all being ignored. Ignoring these issues here allow whites to progress while other minorities continue to decline. Oprah might not be a sell out, but theirs a lot more she can be doing for the communities hear in the United States, You got to fix home first. Rap music and artists like 50 cent aren’t effecting are society or there people. Lack of education and money are. And if we continue to sit back and only put are money into suburban school districts, purchasing unnecessary things for children whom are already privilege then the schools that are being left behind are also going to be left behind when it comes to producing educated young people. Not just blacks but all those who attend these schools. Rap artists see this, they look up to Oprah, who’s African American and like the richest women in the world. And when they see the decline, and the homelessness in her own back yard, it’s little hard not to get upset and call her a sell out!
Response to Fabulous Five:
I respect your opinion and think you make some valid points. But, to compare poverty and hardship is pointless, because in my line of work I see pain and hopelessness daily. I watch girls go home to be turned out by their mothers “Man". Or watch young men toss their lives away trying to survive but dying to the drug game. No matter where you live the ugly head of death and despair resides. Back to Oprah, I think she is great woman and devoted to her beliefs. But when it comes to adequately speaking about the plight of blacks here in America (Except for Hurricane Katrina) Oprah like many other African American Celebs drops the ball. Here over the past week a black man was murdered In NY by undercover cops. In Richmond, VA two years ago city police brutally shot and killed a 22 year black man. Our inner city public schools are struggling to stay open and accredited. How many times has she dealt with the real issues that affect her people in America? I am not talking about simply writing a check and throwing money at it, but using her show as platform to bring the issue to the masses. As I close we do have social services and Government programs but in the USA the issue of race , gender , sexuality and equality are road blocks to helping those that are in need.
And It's Africa not African!
