Not all presidents have been rich. It does seem that they tend to be wealthy before or shortly after leaving office. Much of it has to do with family connections and those forged during collegiate years. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of resources to become president. Lyndon Johnson, who became president in the early 1960's, wasn't rich until after he became president. Another one is Bill Clinton. Some of them live as though they were rich, at taxpayers expense. It would be refreshing to see someone from the middle class become president. It is rare that we have had a president who hasn't graduated from an ivy league school in recent years.

You're right, the ones with the most money who can make it to the end are the ones who always gets the nomination from both parties.

Because political campaigning costs money. So it`s a thing for the wealthy.


Although they have sponsoring,
the candidates have to finance alot of it themselves.

well, tv ads, newspapers ads , getting name recognition.........it all cost money...this isn't 1906 where the candidates actually had to go out in the street and talk to the people.............they had to answer questions too.....not like now were questioners are prepared in advance and all the candidates have answer tatooed inside their eyelids.........................anyway - that's why

because, lets face it, you aren't going to vote for someone who has only one poltical sign in every city, and can't afford to put their face on TV.
