A Chrsitmas Carol was written in 1843. The typewriter, as we know it, wasn't common until the late 1800s, so no. He probably used a dip (nib) pen. There is a staged photo of him writing with a quill, the classic "pen"

Whatever he used to write, I learned from a two volume biography that he was a wretched speller. I took great consolation from that fact since I am also horribly deficient in that connection. Regrettably, I can find no other significant similarities between us
