Help with pop-ups and viruses protection?

I have AT&T YAHOO ONLINE PROTECTION to block pop-ups and viruses or whatevers, but it doesnt seem to work that well. I still get pop-ups, and some viruses. what can I do to make it work better?

Do you have the IE pop up blocker turn on?

Tools>pop up blocker>click turn on blocker.
