in the event that the main chute does not fully deploy, you`ve still got the time and altitude to eject the main, clear from it and still hopefully deploy the secondary or emergency chute before your face permanently becomes smitten with the ground matter.

Parachutes are deployed early because the skydiver won't hit the ground so hard. it actually takes alot of time to slow down than what you think.

I wait until I hit the ground and then deploy my parachute on the first initial bounce.

SURE THEY DO!!! BUT...As they are falling to earth the sudden jerk of the chuteis much worse if they wait because the longer they wait the faster they fall...and the bigger the jerkof the chute...
