i hope you don't want to be punk to fit in with people. because that's definatly not punk at all.
you can't just become punk. it's not some magic trick you do and *poof* you're punk! no, doesn't work that way. you have to feel it in yuorself that that's the person you are. you need to feel teh emotion. it's not this,
"you listen to green day?"
"yes! i love american idiot it's so great!"
no, you gotta know it frontwards and back hun. punk and emo and all teh rest of this scene isn't a matter turning over night or waking up and saying "emo's cool, let's try that." you can't say that. because....the *REAL* punk people out there will see you and think automatically *poser* because that's how it will seem, sugar.
also, you need to be emotionally and romantically involved with the music. the music should take you somewhere, somewhere where you feel yourself and like nobody else. and i'm not talking Paris Hilton, Justin Timberlake, Brooke Hogan and the rest of that pop crap. im speaking My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, The White Stripes etc. if you don't feel connected, you're not punk at all.
save yourself time. be who you are. don't do this for popularity ad things like that. you can't become punk, hun.
p.s. for all you who said punk is a "poser" or "cutter" thing. yeah, look in the mirror. you're in for a shocking surprise. because remember, if for one minute you think you're better than anyone else, you're sorely mistaken.

You dont become punk. If you are trying to become punk, you will never become punk. Punk will take over you if you ever do become punk. If you try to look punk, youll just be a poser, with a poorly done mohawk and black lip stick.

trying to be punk won't work. you can't just be someone else. i mean you could say that the ramones are amazing and start wearing CBGB tshirts with chuck taylors, but is that really you? punk is simply a genre of music. why don't you try being opera? don't live by sterotypes.
