Actually Palestinians celebrate an Independence day..."On November 15, 1988, the independent state of Palestine was proclaimed by the Palestine National Council (PNC), meeting in Algiers, by a vote of 253 to 46, as well as in front of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the capital of the new state, after the close of prayers, in testament to the monumental importance of Al Aqsa Mosque to the Palestinian people."

Palestinians will celebrate their independence day when they will be alowed to form a State. if that day be on the 4th of July 2007 then i am sure they will celebrate with glee.

ps. even if what has been said above is correct, which it isn't..The Palestinians today are not those of 1947, and to deny them a State because they were at war with Israel is very cruel. On that basis, none if the countries in the world, should be existing.

It would have been in May 1948, had they not been "helped" by their Arab brethren. The UN had divided the area between Israel and a proposed independent state of "Palestine", but the Arabs, being the peaceful Muslims that they are, decided to invade in order to push the Jews into the sea.

Palestinians deserve an independent state like cannibals deserve Hamburger Helper.

Why not? Because the only country in the world that could give them independence has decided to only recognize Israel.
