Some societies hold work in high esteem, e.g. the mainstream culture in the US. In that culture, "work" is interpreted as "what you get paid money to do" so other work like bringing up children and looking after the elderly is relatively dis-esteemed.

Some societies balance an esteem for work with esteem for family and leisure.

Some subcultures disesteem work. For example, among the multi-generationally unemployed, in Britain anyway, higher esteem is given to avoiding it by "ducking and diving". Among some criminals and drug addicts, successful stealing is esteemed, not work.

In the West, most people regard retirement as an appropriate choice to make somewhere between age 60 and 70. This includes both people who have retired and those who haven't. It is what sociologists call a "norm" in our cultures. A minority of people love to carry on working at their paid work until as late an age as their health permits.

Aging is a natural process that occurs naturally and gradually in all living things. Assuming you mean people aging..... people in general don't like to look at it or think about it, our cultures fancy youthfulness, especially in women. Aging is seen to be something to put up with more than to enjoy, and often associated with unwelcome limitations (of health or agility) and to be mitigated medically (viagra, skin cream, botox). The aged are marginalised into homes for the elderly and forgotten about by all, or at best all except their closest relatives. In Greece, getting really old is regarded as an achievement. The Greek word for "old man" (yeros) is the same as the word for "strong".
