She's so special to me & the only friend that bothers to keep in touch & I make extra effort to keep in touch with her too.

For my birthday she got me a 1930's dressed manequin that was an earring holder to put all my jewellery on & I though it was excellent but I don't think I can replicate that creativity & thoughfullness with the money I have.

Last year I got her some earrings she really wanted & a large bottle of Baileys because she loves it but I'm completely stuck this year.

I really can not spend more than £10, I don't have a job right now so I think she'll understand if it's not spectacular but I want her to know I care.

ANY suggestions???

You can buy special fridge magnets, candles, mugs etc that have messages etc on them that say 'To a special friend' then they have a deffinition of what a good friend is etc. I have a candle that was a gift, it has my name and the meaning of my name. I think something like that would be really good- nice for your friend to keep and not too expensive. Also would show u put some thought into it rather than just buying the average thing, and its personal to your friend. Check out card shops like 'Birthdays' and other specialist stores.

What about a picture fo you both in a frame. You can get some gorgeous trendy frames from tesco and if its a picture she has seen before you can take it to any kodak and have it copied in black and white or change the effect of it for about £1. Its something she can keep and it shows you'v put some thought into it

I hope you have lots of pictures of you and your friend. I once made an inexpensive gift of pictures. I bought a picture frame with many holes in it for pictures and went through all of our pictures and made a really nice frame for my brother in law, he was so moved by it that he had tears in his eyes. I was surprised by how much he loved it and he has it hanging to this day. I included his parents, friends, family, people who had passed away, his wedding and children pictures it cost me next to nothing but time. Good luck P.S you should be able to find a frame like that for about 8 to 10 dollars, the rest is time.

Find a picture of the two of you from when you were having a great time and put it in a frame. Then write a letter saying why this picture has always been so important to you and why you now want to share it with her.

Go to the clearance aisle of shops. You get great deals for some really nice things. Sometimes thrift stores are great places to go for gifts as well. This applies to all countries.

Your time is more precious, cook her a meal she'll appreciate the thought you put into it. Don't have to break the bank. Celebrate your friendship by giving of yourself, can't put a price tag on that....

What ever you get her i'm sure she will be pleased with, she is lucky to have such a special friend.
Candles or some bath sets are usually a good bet

Just a card and a nice bunch of flowers!! I'm sure she would not expect anything especially with your circumstances...If it was my friend I would probably be annoyed that she has spent some money ...
