I am a senior in high school. It's december and I have NOT applied to any college or university yet. I don't where or how to begin. I do not know what school would be the best one and the applications are so confusing..Iam practically lost. My guidance counselor does not help me at all..my family doesn't speak English so no help from there either. I am ALL by myself trying to find a school. I know I am late in my attempt to find a college but I really would like to get in a good college. My High school GPA is about 2.8 and my SAT Reasoning Test scores are about 500 each, my math section was the lowest one with the score of 480.
I want to apply to Cornell University (School of Hotel Administration) this is my first choice. My second choice is Cornell University The Johnson School

Also, can I go to a 4-year Hotel management school and then maybe get my doctoral in a prestigious Business School such as Stern University of New York? Is the Hope For Me??

Please help. Thanks

yes all you have to do is go to their website and request a copy of their application/brochures. they will be happy to send it. if you can't find a way to do that online just call the "admissions" offices at each school you want to go to.

once you fill out your applications, you then send them in with the check or money order (there is a fee for applying). They will then look at your transcripts and other paperwork that they requested you send with the applications and let you know when your interview is.

just make sure you read the applications thoroughly and fill in everything that they ask for.

by the way this is the way school works...

you can either go to a "trade school" which will put you into a program that is specific for what you want to do. these schools are usually about 2 years until you graduate.

but if you want to get other degrees this is what you do...

you need to apply to a four year school that will give you a Bachelor's degree, after you complete this you can go to a graduate school that will get you a "masters degree", this usually takes about two years. Then if you want to continue, you apply to a PhD program to get your Doctoral Degree, the time span here depends on how fast you want to do it.

So if you live in the NYC area, and you are interested in business take a look at Baruch, it is in Manhattan and it is a good school. http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/ (this is their webpage)
http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/undergrad/request.htm (this is the page to request information about the school)

they offer management degrees. I hope this helps, good luck

Take a deep breath, stop panicking, and start sending out those appication. One thing at a time. Nothing stops you from applying to more than one school or one program. You might even consider starting with a junior college which a good hotel management program. Check with school (or local library) for those programs. And good luck.

Having gone to college myself I just have to say dont stress yourself about tomorrow. Sit down with yourself today and figure out what you really want to do and what makes you really happy. Then do the research. The key thing is do what makes you happy. Dont rush. Everything will come together in its own time. Good luck there is hope for you

Every schools website will have a link to registering and applying. Check out their websites and write down any phone numbers you see for THEIR counselors instead of your high school one. This way you can talk directly who can help you out in stead of someone just trying to pass you off.

Your school high school should have people there to help you with the process of applying to college. I understand it is overwhelming and scary but the longer you put it off the harder it will be. There is always hope for everyone.
