Lots of great guitars out there. However, most rockers play either a Fender Stratocaster or a Gibson Les Paul. Let's not forget the great accoustic sounds of the Martin or Guild either.

Actually, there are a lot of great brands - Gibson, Fender , Hamer, Kramer , Jackson , Ibanez , etc. , the list goes on. While most people usually shout out their favorites by popularity and all that, - the real point is that any good guitar COULD be the best you ever played , depending on how it's set up! String gauges , string height (action) , intonation , electronics , etc. all play a part in your total guitar experience. You could walk into a music shop and pick up their most expensive and popular brand :::says PRS under breath::: and if it's set up all wrong and the thing is adjusted all out of whack, you may not have a good impression of that brand, then again , you could pick up a Squier Strat that's been meticulously set up by someone who knows their stuff , and that would play great for you. You see what i'm getting at?

People generally espouse the Fender Stratocaster as the best guitar, but I personally always preferred the versatility of the Telecaster.
