It's funny, this year my husband and I decided to limit our gifts to each other at $25. I casually mentioned it to one of my best friends, and she was NOT going to tell me their limit ($250.) It doesn't matter to me - you just do what is right for you and what you can afford, right?

I agree with you. My husband and I agreed to keep our gifts to each other under $100 and to buy a new matress set together.

My husband and I do limit our gift spending cause we have a tendency to do the one-upping. If I buy him a $100 with the stuff then he's got to buy me a $150 with the stuff, most of its stuff we don't even need! So we limit, $100 each. Now spending on the kids is a different story. :) Can't say no to them.

We spend about a Grand, maybe a lil more each year. We have 3 children and they get 200$ each and we also spend about 200$ on each other. So there's the grand. We have 8 nieces and nephews and spend about 20 - 30$ a piece on them. So 1,240$ if you go with the 30$ for each niece and nephew.

I only have a small family, I usually spend approx £100 on each, however I only have one child and to date have spent £1700. She appreciates everything and looks after all her belongings. When she has finished with things she usually gives them to a child less fortunate than herself, she is 12 and will be 13 on the 21 December. For her Birthday I have booked a limo to take her and friends out to dinner then Ice skating then to come back and take them for a tour around the city. For her present I will buy outfit and jewelery

Exactly. Some people have more money to spend than others. Don't let what your friend is doing make you feel bad about how much you can afford. I know that you can still find really nice presents on a budget.

Yeah, Me and my husband have done one year 50 dollars, one year when we really broke even did small things for each other, like I put little things that I would do for him on index cards, example, a 30 minute massage. You can only do what you can afford, but you still can gave fun with it.
