While I Strongly disagree with what allot of what the ACLU does, they also have done good things, In this Country of ours, you need both the far left and far right to balance each other out. While the ACLU might seem extreme at times because we think they might take it to far, look at the opposite end of it, NOBODY looking out after our rights, The ACLU has protected many of our freedom of speech laws that we all LOVE and HATE sometimes, they really fought the idea of Government being able to eavesdrop on anyone they please, even an normal non terrorist freedom loving Americans. Your far Left and the Far right will collide all the time, but mostly meet in the middle. You have to believe in the Checks and Balances Theory, that way 1 side does not take over.

Just looked on the Aclu Page and it says it is not funded by the Government and wikipedia does not mention Goventment funding but says 46% came from contributions, 19% came from membership dues, 18% came from court awarded attorney fees, 12% came from grants, 4% came from investment income , But if there are links saying otherwise, please post

They operate from private donations.

However, as in all court cases, the loser pays the fees. Sometimes that loser is a government.
