One (amoung an unlimited number of) answer(s) to that question, is to do what you did. You asked a question instead of doing nothing! So, asking a question is one thing you can do when (you think) there is nothing else to do.

When there really is NOTHING to do - then there is nothing to do. You can't even ask a question about it.

In asking your question, you may learn something. So, when YOU thought there was nothing to do, you decided to learn something (about nothing?). Keep it up (asking questions, that is) and you will learn a lot of things. It's the reason we have brains.

There is ALWAYS something to do! Except maybe, the day you die. Then your body, at least, will have nothing at all to do. You won't even be able to ask the question - what to do?

read a book
wash your car
do laundry
clean the bathroom
go for a walk or bike ride
call a friend
call your mother
fix that broken.....(whatever)
do some volunteer work
address Christmas cards
bathe the dog

my point is there's ALWAYS something to do, sometimes it's not too exciting but I have never, ever in my life had nothing to do, just nothing I wanted to do.

dimples: what are you talking about?

You sound bored. Volunteer work is a good thing in which makes ourselves feel good.Help at a hospital or nursing home. This way you meet other people as well. Lots of people out there need help with simple things. Look into it.

That is impossible. A person is always doing something; Even when they are doing nothing!

Stand by it, offer your support, and offer encouragement. Stand by whatever it may be till the end, let it know that you're here and offer words of encouragement.

Find out what must/can be done next, then prepare for it.
