My father is diabetic as well, but thankfully he manages his diet very well.

You need to gather as much information about being diabetic as you can. If you have a good relationship with him, sit down and discuss it with him.

Let him know that he absolutely must change his lifestyle or he will have major health complications, and die a a young age. Let him know how that will affect your life. Tell him how much you want him to be around.

My boyfriend who is 51 is a insulin diabetic and he drinks about 2 to 3 bottles of wine a night. Sweetie , unfortunately they have to help themselves. I have tried with my boyfriend but he will not listen.

He is a grown up and can make hius own decisions. Talking to him will do no good unless he wants to quit.

hes all growed up and makes his choices. As long as hes not going to whine about the missing leg, impotence etc he can do what he wants.

Does he have life insurance to cover funeral costs?
Spend as much quality time as you can with him, as he seems to be fulfilling a death wish . . . condolences to you . . . life goes on, and the wheel goes round.

you can tell him all day long how bad it is for him and how much you care but in the end it is his life and his decisions,just love him and be there for him no matter what

We can't help you or your father. He has to care about what he puts into his own body. Do not feel guilty for what he does to himself.
