It was part of the plan, Jesus was sent to earth for everyone who would accept him as Lord an savior. Being born in a stable was to symbolize the filthy and loathsome things that we are without him. It was to show that even if we come from lowly and humble beginnings through him we will be lifted up. Look into Jesus's bloodlines and you will find that he was ascended from a prostitute as well as a King. Mary and Joseph were sent to Bethlehem for a reason. To be assessed for taxes, much like we are today. I would love to talk to you more about this.

He was supposed to be a regular person, born to poor parents. When he was presented in the Temple his parents gave the offering of 2 doves...the offering given by really poor people who couldn't afford anything better.
Jesus is the man of sorrows, he had to be able to relate to the poor, the needy, the downtrodden and the disenfranchised. Which He does, rather well. He had no patience with the rich and snobbish and didn't mind letting them know it!
They got stuck in the stable because everyone was standing in line to do the census thing.

No bad planning on God's part........
The whole point of the Saviour being born obscurely was God's great plan to show the Israelites and everyone else, that God's ways are not ours. The Jews were waiting for a Messiah who would arrive with Trumpet blast and armies of men, heralding a time of prosperity and riches. God had other ideas......

There was no room at the Inn, which was a shame, as I'm sure his parents could have done with a pint of beer.

The great plan? If there was any plan that faker had nothing to do with it. If it was any plan it was the Hebrews (the real bad boys) who had to clean their hands and spread their method of suppression.
