some stains will change color when and acid is added (it is an oxidation-reduction reaction). If the new substance is colorless the stain "goes away".

Oxidizing/reducing agents work the same way; if the stain is oxidized the new substance may be colorless or if it is reduced the new substance may be colorless

If a stain is due to the presence of a protein, the enzymes will "digest" the protein and thus remove it.

If you survive the tree fallling on you and you have your cell phone, you will make a sound when you call 911.
