The "safely remove" function is really only for external disks. Pulling a webcam is totally safe. If the drivers were properly installed, you 'should' be fine with simply pluggin it in again.

So - if you are having a problem, reload the drivers from the CD that came with your cam. THEN, plug it in. It should discover and work fine.

If your webcam is connected via a USB port:

1. Reboot your computer and then reconnect the webcam to see if it is being recognized. (You will see an alert bubble in the right hand bottom corner of your screen.)

2. If you do not see an alert bubble, try running the webcam software to see if it is working.

3. If it is not working:

a) Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Software and uninstall the webcam software and driver.

b) Reboot your PC.

c) Reinstall the webcam software by running the CD-ROM that came with the webcam when you purchased it. Follow instructions to connect the webcam.

This should work.
