It is also up to the person to work wherever they want. If you are not happy with a policy, change jobs. They are not forcing you to work there.

good point

but you may ask just as easily why should employees bring their personal life into work

I think the thing most employers are worried about is what happens if or when the reationship breaks down, will the two be able to handle it sensiblyu or cause problems and friction work. will their activities upset their colleagues, will their tantrums and sulking cause problems.

Unles syour company is a huge entity with hundreds of employees on the same site I think workplace romances if the two work in close proximity, or are going to bump into each other then a workplace romance is asking for trouble.

Quite awkward this one, your social life should be completely seperate from your working life. But, lets say you are a probation officer seeing an ex con, or a doctor seeing a patient, or someone in a bank/financial services going out with someone who has a history of being a thief. They are all awkward situations and employers have to be careful. xx

Good question! I had an employer who actually said that work should come first in my life, and that if I wasn't on the schedule for that day that I should be ready to come in at any time incase they called me in. I actually got in trouble for not answering my phone when they tried to call me in one day. What is that about?! Needless to say, I no longer work there.

Its not meant to affect your social life - its there to protect the working life of people who have to work with 2 people having a relationship. I have worked at places where 2 people start seeing each other and they either tend to gang up on others or have crafty smoochy cuddles in the working place - either way its not nice to have to work with them. Not saying all people are like that but the ones i Worked with were xxx

Because an employer has a right to avoid situations that might lead their employees to be productive. Why? Because their job is to maximize profit.

it's okay when the romance is going well - the work still gets done, although maybe a bit slower cos of all the long meaningful looks BUT when things go wrong it's a nightmare. everyone in the workplace is affected - one way or another - and the work just doesn't get done.

because when it goes bad it effects the work place.
