The pupil is the black circle in the center of the eye. If you shine a flashlight from the side (NOT the front) onto your eye, you will see that the black portion is essentially a depression or "hole" in the center of the eye. All pupils are black. Your color of your iris (blue, brown, grey, green, hazel etc) is due strictly to your genetics. Even if both parents have brown eyes they could still have a child with blue eyes. Everybody has two genes for eye color. They are:

Blue / Blue
Blue / Green
Blue / Brown
Green / Green
Green / Brown
Brown / Brown

Brown is "dominant" over the other colors and the person will have brown eyes. So even if both parents have brown eyes they can still be carriers of the blue. After cellular meiosis and fertilization the genes could be redistributed in one of four ways:

genes eye color (gene expressed)
Brown -Brown brown
Brown - Blue brown
Brown - Blue brown
Blue -Blue Blue

There is no way to change your pupil (black ) color and the only way to change your iris color is by wearing colored contact lenses. ***Only wear lenses sold through a eye care PROFESSIONAL not off the street or internet. ***

It's a pretty sure bet that human life began along the equator. We believe that since there is no evidence that people ever had thick furry bodies.
The blistering hot sun of those places was damaging to eyes and skin, so nature provided dark pigment for protection. The early people lived off nature, whatever wild berries, roots, animals, and fish that could be found.
As living area became depleted, the people has to spread out. Some found that the easiest way of finding food was the large grazing animals. They herded together, and didn't attack the hunters. Those animals moved farther and farther North as the ice of the last Ice-Age melted.
Now the sun isn't near as intense. Eyes became lighter. Skin bleached out. The light skin - light eyed people came into existence.

firstly it's not the pupils that are coloured it is the iris that is the coloured part of the eye. the pupil is the black dot in the middle that gets bigger or smaller to let in varying degrees of light through. the colour of the irises depends entirely on genetics. when you are coneived you receive genes from both parents. to get blue eyes both genes need to be for the blue variation, but if you have brown eyes it means one or both genes were of brown type. as brown is the dominant eye colour you would only need to receive one of these genes as it overrides the blue gene.

According to Mendel's Law, there are about 3 persons with brown eyes for 1 with blue eyes
