please no sun or fire and those stuff..give me something that's really interesting...i need it for the topic of an optics project

i would vote for lasers and its monochromatic light. this is what i think the most 'interesting' source of light cause there are thousands of applications coming along with it. And i think it would be very easy to highlight a few for such a project.

Laser, light emitting diode, carbon arc, sodium vapor or mercury vapor, xenon flash. Bioluminous sources include the common firefly and a fascinating bunch of fish, including some which dangle a lantern in front of their mouth to attract prey. Chemical luminescence, including the cyanide-based 'light sticks' which activate when you bend them and mix chemicals. Nuclear fission and fusion.

Not so much a source of light continuously, but lightning can illuminate the night rather dramatically

Bioluminescence. If you're out in the woods on a pitch black night-- damp, rotting wood glows. Dampness and temperature probably determine how brightly.

Quantum dots. This is a new one and I have no idea how they work.
