I want to become an actress, but I'm already 14 years old, I don't know how to sing, dance, or act, even though I had little acting parts in school plays and I took a few dance classes when I was young. I'm also extremly shy/introverted compared to many thespians. I recently went to a thespian festival which is for two days (today is the last day), but I was discourged from the workshops and plays because everyone else was a damn thespian...they could sing, dance, and act! I really want to become an actress (I've always dreamed being one)...but extroversion is not part of my personality. Also I don't have a lot of money to spend on classes because I already am spending money elsewhere. So can someone help me become like one of the thespians (theres a thespians troupe at my school but I don't fit in) and teach me how to become an actress? PS Is it too late for me to act because the majority of thespians have been doing performing arts for all of their lives!?

Have a look around your local area for youth theatres and acting classes outwith your school - you can find out about them through your local theatres, arts centres, even the local newspapers (look at the entertainment notices, or the classifieds). I don't think 14 is too late- so long as you're really willing to put a lot of effort into it, you can get some basic training pretty quickly. Don't get put off by everyone else at the festival already being able to do everything- they probably have been doing it all their lives. Start learning now and in a year or two you'll feel a lot more confident about it, and ready to take them on!
I feel for you, by the way, I'm 16 and am only just starting to get into training ( well, over the past year and a half). I haven't been doing it long, but I'm finding that since I've set my mind that I'm going to do it, I'm progressing really fast. The moment you can feel yourself progressing, the more confident you'll be and the more you feel you really CAN do it.
So all I say, is GO FOR IT! :)

Okay, I am an aspiring actress myself. I did little skits at my church when I was younger, but I didn't get really involved in "acting" until I was 13, I auditioned for "It's a Wonderful Life", I was Janie Bailey and from then on out I was hooked! I have done quite a few productions since then. Whether w/ the local acting company in my town or at school. My sophomore year in High school, our Theatre Dept. competed a One Act play and I won Best Actress for our whole district! God blessed me w/ the talent to entertain people and the passion for it, too! You are never to young to follow your dreams! If you want to act go for it girl, the only thing holding you back is YOU!!! If you get enrolled into some acting classes, that will REALLY help you get over your stage fright a little bit, I am not going ot guarantee a lot b/c diferent people have different personalities and fears soo BREAK A LEG girl! And never give up!

You don't want it bad enough. If you did you'd stop "spending your money elsewhere" and take the classes. Why do you want to do this? To get rich? If you really have the desire you'll do it. You don't realize this either, at 14 you're only too old for pampers.
You're already making excuses for not doing what you want. That's a loser attitude. Find a way! Take the classes. If nothing else it will teach you to not talk yourself out of what you want.

it's never too late!
I'm around your age too, and have just recently have become involved in performing arts.
i've been dancing for a while (6ish years) but starting singing only a year and a half ago.
i've been going for triple threat (singing, acting, dancing) in a lot of school stuff, i take drama as a semester course.
i was in the school play last year but more as a singing dancing person than an acting person.
i say you should go with your strong points. are you a better actress?
you don't need many fancy classes. sign up for voice lessons or something. take advantage of any hip-hop or other dance classes at your school (they have them at mine).
and act, act, act! try out for the school musical, make videos with your friends for fun, whatever!
and of course, immerse yourself. see musicals (or movie versions) & learn the songs.
good luck!
and remember, lots of ppl said i started singing too late, but it's working for me.
better late than never!

It's never too late. One thing you might want to try to help become more extroverted would be to choose 5 random people every day to say hello to, or while sitting in line strike up a conversation with the person next to you. It will be hard at first, but it gets easier and you might not ever get completely over that shy/nervous feeling. To improve on your acting skills, enroll in drama at school (also a good way to help you get over your shyness), and try acting like people you know. Good luck.
