I know as a general rule, p2p is illegal. But I have come across imesh and it claims that it has 2 million downloads from record companies...therefore they claim to be legal. Is this true?

I know that some record companies have been in contact with some p2p sites to give them legal access to material - this this true?

Therefore are their any p2p sites up and running who have the blessing of some major labels?

No p2p software is technically illegal just the copyright files you download are, so if you just download legitimate files then theres no problem.
If you want music i suggest itunes or allofmp3.com

Peer to peer sits are not illegal, it is what is transfered across them that is illegal, copywrite music etc.
