The friction of the action of intercourse contributes to the drying of the vagina. I also find that there is some drying if there is a fan on or an airconditioner.
Sometimes the natural lubrication of the vagina doesn't produce as much as needed, so you need to use an alternative lubrication such as KY Jelly (which is a water-based lubricator).
Then again, you may not be aroused as much as you would like. Try getting your partner to focus on longer foreplay before jumping right into the intercourse.

By all means don't continue intercourse if you become dry.

Tell your partner to give you more stimulation before intercourse and see if that helps. If you can get oral stimulation from them, it can often get enough of your natural lubrication moving to take care of the intercourse.

talk to your doc it my be low hormone levels. you may want to get water based lube.
