On October 31, I ordered 2 Pizzas from Papa John's in Ventura California when I drove home 10 minutes away and opened the boxes the pizzas were like cardboard with very skimpy toppings. The pizzas looked like they were sitting for a very long time before they put them in the box for me. I immediately called the store and was told the manager would get back to me. Three days later I called and asked for the District Manager and was told he to would get back to me. After a few more days of no response, I e-mailed their customer service and got a form letter response. Another week went by with no response so I e-mailed them again and I am still waiting for a response and it is December 2. Talk about great customer service. Alot of Companys advertise that their food is guaranteed, but when you complain they never get back to you.

I worked at a Papa John's for 2 years. They are usually understaffed on purpose especially late night to save money on labor costs. Therefore, the pizza does sit around on a warming rack for up to 45 mins sometimes if they only have one or two drivers for late night and they get busier than expected and have to drive out to other customers houses that are really far away. It's in no way the driver's fault, so you should still tip. They are working their butts off, and working even harder when it shows up later than you expected if they are busy. Now then, if it took them a long time to get there because the driver got lost or was just screwing around on the way to your house, then that's different. But usually it's there late cuz they have alot of orders and not enough drivers scheduled to handle the unexpected business.

Now, from the customer's standpoint since i havent worked there in over 4 years and love their pizza....

The one i order from (not same one as i worked at), ALWAYS gives horrible service. The person that answers the phone is always kinda rushing me, and not friendly whatsoever, and always interrupts me when im trying to tell him/her my order. I KNOW how to order pizza, i dont need to be asked questions and dont get on the phone and take 5 mins to figure out what i want like alot of annoying customers do.

Also, I ordered from them one time and was really craving their pizza. I didnt order at a typical busy time, but an hour and 20 mins had gone by and i still hadnt gotten my pizza. I called them and asked where my pizza was, and the guy (unfriendly) informed me they only had 2 drivers working that night, and one of them called in sick and the other apparently got fed up with having to be the only driver there and walked out. he quit. I didnt get a phone call to let me know that i wasnt going to be getting my pizza. He said he could send it out to me when they got a driver to come in to cover for the guy, but it might be 2 more hours. Why should I have to wait 3.5 hours to get a pizza i ordered?! So i told him not to bother sending it out, but then complained that i wasnt called to let me know it wasnt coming. i know they didnt have any more than 4 or 5 orders max during that time. it's a slow place, i live in a small town. it wouldntve been too much to ask to politely call the customers. They credited my account (under my phone #) for 2 free pizzas on my next order after i complained.

I always order extra sauce and there is usually barely any sauce on there at all. so i have started ordering extra extra sauce and they still dont even have the normal amount on there. Papa Johns loves to skimp on all toppings and sauce to save their food cost. But overall i still love their pizza. IF they actually manage to make it the way i like.

Yes, we had a bad experience too. Last September we ordered pizza for dinner. They said it would be 45 minutes for delivery. Well, a severe storm rolled through and lasted a while. The pizza never showed up all night. No phone call saying it wasn't coming or anything. We tried calling them and there was no answer. I wasn't too mad that it didn't come since the storm was so bad but they never called to apologize or anything. We tried calling the next day and they said they would get back to us, but we never heard anything. We finally had to go through a ton of hoops but we did finally get a free pizza.

I also get the feeling that it has been sitting around a long time before they bring it too. I've decided I'm done with them. If your ever in the Twin Cities area try Davanni's. It's very good.

Personally I don't really care for Papa John's. I would much rather drive 30 miles round trip to get me a Costco supreme pizza. Sounds like a perfect time to start a boycott you can do much damage to them over the internet if you really wanted to. Remember word of mouth spreads like wildfire.

Yes. I bought a card from a door to door sales person. It gave you one pizza for free, and then a discount for further ones.

It was a big mistake. The pizza was so awful that we never went back.

I tried to get my money back on the card that had a guarantee. After several attempts to get through hoops not revealed when I purchased, I quit trying.

I haven't had an experience like that, but I'm not crazy about the taste of their pizza. It's ok, but not my first choice when ordering pizza. Unfoutunately most places don't have the greatest customer service.

No, not like that, but one time we ordered half pineaple and half onion and we had onion on the entire pizza, I was the only one that wasn't happy though.
