To get to the super bowl you not only have to be good but you have to be equally lucky.
The team that make it to the super bowl aren't always the best team. They just happen to be the team who hasn't lost when it counted most.
Every team is expected to lose a game or two now and then. And if that game or two just happens to be at the end of the season then its their tough luck.
To peak at the end is also a matter with motivation. It's the coach's responsibility to see that the team has a fire in their belly as they enter the play-offs.

If you want to win in the NFL playoffs, you have to win in cold weather (Colts play in a dome), run the ball effectively, and play
good defense. The Colts' offense is very good, but their defense isn't so much so. Last season, the special teams was the culprit,
namely Mike Vanderjagt. You need to have all three facets of your
team (offense, defense, special teams) playing at least better than your opposition to win. I think an overlooked factor is the Colts haven't had the experience of being in enough big games yet with Manning at the helm, whether it is the regular season or the playoffs. It seems one team is always hungrier than they are
come playoff time. If the Colts win the SuperBowl, they won't
have an easy path to get there. The Cowboys or Bears could
be their opponent from the NFC. The AFC is loaded with good
teams right now, like the Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Patriots
and others.

Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison handle the offense. The D is average, not great under any terms, but they can lay a hard hit. During the regular season Peyton can do good because they are already winning, he is used to it, and he can afford to lose one game. Once the Colts enter the playoffs they can't just trust Peyton Manning. Every one has to step up. They just don't. Lastly, Peyton performs worse because it is a high pressure situation he has oftenly choked in, and one loss and your out.

They always do well in the regular season but once playoffs start, the whole Colts team breaks down. Peyton Manning chokes and for some reason isnt able to handle the pressure of the post-season. but dont be surprised this year if the Colts make it to the AFC Championship Game

As much as I like Peyton Manning, he seems to never be able to handle the pressure and take that next step. To be fair, it's not all his fault. The Colts can't stop the run defensivlely and have always been a little small in the secondary. In years past, if they have had to go play out doors, especially in the cold, they have had problems.
Overall, I think it's a mental block as a team. But I do think eventually, they will win one.

Because of Peyton, he is about as far from a clutch QB as you can get. Yes still funny how everyone jumps right on the bandwagon the next year... They will never get to the super bowl with manning at the controls.

They are good but they havent played well in the playoffs. Thats really obvious. They try to hard in the regular season to go undefeated and over-achieve instead of taking it easy and just trying to make the playoffs with a good record. What they do is they wear themselves out and when its time to play in the playoffs they are to tired. They are automatically the favorite going in with the best record but they just get over confident and the team doesnt try as hard trying to save energy for the next game.

i have no clue! I LOVE THE COLTS all time favorit team! but i think its because in the playoffs and stuff he chokes cuz hes so nervouse he starts throwing interceptions and forces turn overs.... he needs to relax! if he would just focus on the game insted of after the game he would be fine!

that would be because peyton manning is a whining crybaby who never can do anything when it actually matters all he does is complain about his team......he is completely to blame for every time the colts lose in the playoffs.

I think it is because for some reason, they change the offensive scheme thats worked for them all season, when they get to the playoffs. You see them throw down field succesfully all year. But when the playoffs come, nothing but screen passes, and short routes.
