They usually celebrate new year instead of christmas, because christmass was forbbiden in USSR and, since they are ortodoxal, they have christamass only around 7 January. They celebrate pretty much as everywhere in the world whith tree, gifts and Santa Claus (Ged Maroz accompanied by his granddaughter Snegurochka), I think they had some special food, but I can't remmember what, they have 12 diferent types of food on the table what so ever.
