Today I am repeatedly having a message repeating "There is an IP Address conflict with another system on the network". Thanks

That means that two computers are set to have the same IP address. Change the IP address on one of the computers and that should fix the problem.

need to know if you are using dhcp or have your addresses statically assigned.

if you go to :
Control Panel
Network Connections (maybe via network and internet connection depending on how you have your control panel set)

Double click the connection that you are having problems with.

(if you have a connection icon in the area next to your clock then you can get to this point much fast by just double clicking that)

go to the support tab and you can see what type of address you have.. it will say DHCP or Static.

If it says static go to the general tab and then properties, you should get a page with a little window on. in the window scroll to tcp/ip and double click it.. the page that opens will have two option boxes on it.. one for automatically configure and the other will light up boxes that are filled with a static address.. choose the autoconfigure... (you could always take a note of the address in there just incase you need it.) press ok to everything.. go back and check the connection details.. it should have given; or be in the process of giving you an ip address in the range of your network.

you should get a little yellow dot wirling around the connection icon as it searches for an address... if not open up a command prompt..
choose RUN type CMD
type: ipconfig /release all
type:ipconfig /renew all
and the connection should refresh with an ip from your dhcp server...
Remember if you dont have a dhcp on your network or there is a problem with the dhcp server or not enough ip addresses available you will get an address starting with 169.254

Remember aswell that if your computer is set to DHCP then you will have to find the other computer.. there are ways but that would require a lot of writing... but basically you would have to change the way it gets it address... if you are on a static network then change your address to one not used.. if you are dhcp then adjust the other comp to get its address from dhcp.

good luck and sorry about any spelling.. i was in a rush.

PS:your ability to do any of the above will depend on your user level... but if you are an administrator on your comp the process will work on a home network or in a bigger environment.

Going to need a LOT more information to assist you.

Are you using a home connection or is this a business network?

If it's a home network, what is your IP address? Open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG and press enter.

If it's a business network, open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /ALL and press Enter. Post the results here and I'll have a look.

Locate the other computer that has the same IP address. If you are running a DHCP network something is wrong with your DHCP server. How to fix this problem has to with how your network is setup.
