The best type of shovel depends on the depth of the snow. Many snow falls are less than 2". A wide pusher will clear a small snowfall rapidly, pushing it into bigger piles that can be removed with normal snow shovels. I have a 40" wide pusher made out of plastic that I have used for years. I can clear a 2" snowfall from a 100 foot driveway in less than 10 minutes.

For medium sized snowfalls, 4"-12" I have a scoop device. You push the scoop until it's full, you then raise the tip of the scoop and allow it to slide over the snow until you get to the dumping location. Pulling back quickly on the scoop deposits the snow. This removes snow fairly rapidly with a minimum of effort.

For very large snowfalls, 12"-20" you pretty much have to slog through it lifting one scoop at a time and tossing it.

That would be the one for you to use then. They have all kinds of ergo-friendly shapes anymore. Persoanally I like to jump on the tractor and push the snow, which we have not had this year. There have been big storms all around us, but so far all have went to the north or south.

I like the heavy duty blastic ones that has a steel reinforcment strip at the bottom edge so i can break up ice with it, and i like the wider ones with a curve to it, but I live in Floriduh now, so I won't be needing one for a while
