My heat dosent work in my car. Im thinking of buying a heater that plugs into a ciggerette lighter. How well does this actually work? Is it worth buying?

It should be OK, better than nothing. Look at the size of the wires and be sure they not larger than the wires to the lighter, if they are, it may pull more current than the lighter wires can handle and melt them, True the fuse should blow. If, you could run some wires direct to the battery or Power strip it may do better, and use an in-line fuse according to instructions for a safety. This my opinion, lighter plug may do fine.

Electric heater that runs off 12 volts. The cheap ones are worthless, the ones that do work put quite a strain on the battery though.

Can't be too much wrong with the heater, pinched or blocked hose that won't let the hot water in, or a bad value that won't turn on probably, and you could probably fix it for the same cost as a good electric heater.
