Ok. try this, IT WORKS!!! 1/2 cup rice with 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, and then simmer for 20 min.Drain the water into a container as this is what you will give your baby.Throw the rice away, unless you can find a use for it.
You can just give him the rice water, or if he will not take it, mix a little sugar with it to sweeten it for him. IT WORKS! The starch in the water will " thicken" his stool, and help with the diarreah!

The most important thing you can do right now is lay him across your chest so he can hear your heart beat. Your heart beat is the first sound he ever heard, and still follow the doctors advice.
In other words when you can be tender loving and caring especially at a time like this.
If any food or foods caused the diarreah stop feeding those to him.
Just incase it could be a food alergy.
Above all relax it helps in the healing process.

Have you tried putting him on a all liquid diet for 24 hours then starting him back slowly on small amounts of solids. The liquid s can be soup broth,,jello apple sauce{as it is mostly water} clear fluids such as ginger ale, water. gaiter aid or pediolite. Try this then try the brat diet. This is what I was to to do when my 2 year old had a similar problem. If this does not help take him back to the Dr. In fact take him to the ER.

Don't give him foods high in fiber! You can also ask your pharmacist about OTC diarreah meds for infants that will help!! Pedialyte will keep your baby from dehydrating, it won't help with diarreah!

Six days seems like a long time for a ten month old to have diarrhea. I would call the doctor again and tell them that it's still happening. Seems to me there's a chance of dehydration here. I'm thinking that if his body needs to get it out quickly, it may not be a good idea to stop it.

GO WITH THE BRAT DIET!!! Pedialyte always made my kids worse. Yogurt helps too. Make sure you give him plenty of water and stay away from fruit juices.

Diarrhea can be cured by ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution). Please try to avoid milk products and foods that are greasy, high-fiber, or very sweet. These foods tend to aggravate diarrhea. For children and infants, bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast are good.

Constant care is needed by mother, and lot of affection I am sure your baby will pick up with proper medicines. Maybe you can contact the American Gastroenterological Association, at webinfo@gastro.org This is their phone number: 301–654–2055

Another is National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse; contact them at nddic@info.niddk.nih.gov

I know you are in need of good advice, and you're sure to find it above places.

you can give him small amounts of cheese and yogurt to lessne the length of time if this is a bacterial issue, banana's firm stool so you can give him those. your best bet though is to remove any foods that could cause an issue: lemons, lime, oranges, tomatoes, purple grape and apple juice (high sorbitol which can give kids diarrhea), apples (lots of fiber and the skins can cause issues), corn, any kind of pepper, paprika, garlic, onions, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice, regular cows milk, goats milk, soy, and chocolate are a bunch. really a baked or broiled meat, bread and yogurt/cheese, and potato diet is your best bet, provided that your son is not allergic to any of these foods. give it a couple of weeks to see if it works. and then stat re-introducing foods one at a time. you'll need to wait atleast four days between new foods though, just to make doubly sure that they won't cause a problem.
