India is a great country with a grand past and future. It was called the Golden Bird. Since it was a rich and peaceful country it was invaded by a number of outsiders right from Alexender (the great??), Moghuls, Portugese, Britishers, and so on. They looted the great treasures which we had. Today, when we are trying to earn back the past glory the world has suddenly become cautious and perhaps is afraid that we can again become powerful.
India has given us the Great Hindu Dharma. Religions like Sikkhism, Buddhism & Jainism originated from Hindu way of life. India has given the world the powerful Meditation systems (Dhyana), physical exercises like Yoga and The meaning of Karma.
India is a blend or various cultures. We have a great unity in our diversity. India never believed in bloodshed and our leader M.K. Gandhi (who is called Father of the Nation) gave the world most powerful way of protest Truth & Ahimsa which drove the English away.
Many Indian doctors and engineers throughout the Western world have reached a very high position in their fields. Many of the top engineers working with NASA are Indians. Our astronaut Kalpana Chawla sacrificed her life on her space mission while working for NASA. Many Indians have won the Nobel peace prize.
Do you still believe it's a crazy country? But on second thoughts I think you are right...
Yes we are crazy that we love the world inspite of getting nothing in return.
Yes we are crazy that we believe in peace when the entire world is burning.
Yes we are crazy to run one of the biggest democracy in the world.
Yes we are crazy that we believe in religious equality.
Yes we are crazy since we believe in universal brotherhood.
By the way, language must be used to express our feelings and not to impress others. Your English was very expressive.
Thanks for asking the question.

I don't agree either. I am from the South in the US and just got married recently in Calcutta, India to my wonderful wife who is Indian. I like India. I did see the poverty. I was actually on the same block where Mother Teresa lived.
India does have a reputation for being poor and a bit backward. They still use oxen to plow with, while here everyone uses tractors. There are also stories of how India has had political problems. Also people here in the US even if they are not Christian find worshipping these many gods something very strange. My wife and I are Christians. My loves her country very much. I have much respect for India and for her people. I would move there if I could find work.
Well, if you are here you will definitely need to learn to ignore a lot of foolish comments from people. People can be very proud and without understanding.

You mean people in general or a particular nation?
any country has its drawbacks, including India, so it is logical someone might comment...
if it's a politician, anything can be said to manipulate public opinion.
otherwise it's just prejudice.
it doesn't mean all people criticizing a country are racists or nationalists or god knows what.
like many other places in the world, India has to confront poverty, crime & other issues.
like anywhere else, there are cruel & intolerate people in India.
but like all the other countries, it is a beautiful & precious land with rich history, abundant culture & there are a lot of nice people, too !!
so cheer up. from what I see, India's public image around the world is pretty cool.
i'd say jolly good.

Your English isn't that bad, if it makes you feel better, a lot of English speakers can't speak proper English either! Anyway, I try not to judge different countries by what I see on the television or media. A lot of people are just ignorant and will judge countries that they have never been to based on what the media says. Don't worry about those idiots! (What's your first language?)

India is a democratic country. Democracy is still under experimentation here. Naturally the results expected earlier are not happening. The people are still superstitious. The jounalists and some other professionals exhibit overzeal in criticising.

Some people criticize anything different or unfamiliar. They are not to be taken seriously.
Like any country, India has difficulties and challenges.
If it's any consolation to you, Mother Teresa said that the spiritual poverty of the USA is much greater than the physical poverty of India.
And I would bet your English is better than the second language of anyone criticizing you.

The few friends I have that have been to india on work trips have always tried to avoid going no matter what. Brutal honesty? The air smells, there are cows on the main roads, beggars everywhere and the men have zero respect for women.
