I didn't mean to say that buying pirate products is the right thing; my point was that if producers sold the originals at a fair price, nobody would have to go and look for cheaper illegal copies, and since I guess you all know the supply and demand criteria, there's no need for me to give any further explanation. I see no reason why people should sell their products at such high prices, they shouldn't b e allowed to do that since allowing it means to allow thefts in this case= applying double standards; law is the same for everyone isn't it? Shouldn't it be?

They should be able to charge whatever they like. However, they should be cheaper otherwise don't be surprised when people illegally download your music. Or pirate anything else for that matter.

But you yourself are quoting supply and demand - those are the things that ultimately determine pricing. If I make a model out of popsicle sticks and want to sell it for $1million, you have the option of buying it or not - but you don't have the option of stealing it. Creating illegal copies of music or video is just another form of theft.

Your argument is "it's OK to steal if I don't have the money to buy something" - which is not conducive to a free market, or a society ruled by law. It is essentially anarchy.

Demand for a product usually sets the price.
So, if people are unhappy with higher costs, then they don'y buy that product....if everyone did that, then the producers of the product would have to rethink about costing/profit etc etc.
Trouble is...pirated copies are usually made in places like China, where human rights etc are almost non existent...the workers are paid like $25 a week. Would you like that sort of pay for what you do ????

To me piracy has only one meaning: Murder and Robbery on the high seas.
Working from that definition -- i will absolutely refuse to buy a product that was pillaged from a ship by pirates, no matter how unfair was the original price.

The problem is that the only way to force pricing on the seller is to get the government involved. The government is involved in too much already.
